The 19th Cortland World Youth Fly Fishing Championship will be held on three rivers, the Sarca, the Chiese and the Noce and on Lago dei Caprioli.

The Chiese river has its source in the Adamello Group, and at 160 km in length is the ninth longest river in Italy and the largest of the sub-tributaries of the Po.

The Noce river originates at 3,360 m above sea level on the Corno dei Tre Signori, in the Stelvio National Park in the Ortles-Cevedale group and flows into the Adige River near Trento after 105 km.

Lago dei Caprioli is found in the locality of Fazzon at 1,280 m above sea level, with a backdrop of relaxing green views across meadows and woods.

TestRIVER NOCE

YOUTH - HZT AREA - TROPHY AREA - COMPETITION VENUE IV

One of the longest stretches with special regulations in Italy. Over 3.5 km of the Noce river below the dam; a so-called tail water, in which very diverse spots and settings can be found one after the other. You go from fast currents to flat areas with slower water, deep potholes are followed by riffles, areas with a rocky bottom give way to long gravel stretches interspersed with grass. After a first section under a dam that flows into a canyon, the setting is more like that of the river at the bottom of the valley. Large riparian areas with very luxuriant vegetation and raised banks alternate with gravel stretches. An area dedicated to artificial baits where very interesting catches have been made in recent years. The area further downstream is accessed from the Moncovo bridge, under the village of Denno, or around the center of the stretch, using the Iscle di Taio area as a reference.

TestRIVER NOCE

MASTERS - CATCH AND RELEASE ZONE B1 - BIOTOPE ZONE 1 (LOCALITY FIUMETER QUARRY) - COMPETITION VENUE III

This stretch of the Noce river is part of a protected area in Trentino of the great importance. This is the Rocchetta Biotope, a river environment of rare beauty in the lower Val di Non. The catch and release area was opened in 2017, following a 25 year ban on fishing in this stretch of the Noce river. An area with a large riparian surface with a prevalence of willows and alders allowing the fisherman to immerse himself in nature and where he will find a truly superlative stretch of river. A stretch with generally fast waters, never deep, where there are not many potholes. Prevalence of brown trout and hybrids in this stretch of river. This special area with catch and release regulations was opened in 2017 for both fly and spin fishing. It is accessed from the SS 43 following the signs for the Fiumeter quarry, crossing the level crossing.

MASTERS - ROTALIANA - COMPETITION VENUE V

This stretch of Noce extends from the Rocchetta gorge to the Mezzocorona power plant outlet. The watercourse has the characteristics of a classic valley floor stream with gentle slopes where short riffles alternate with long swampy areas, including deep ones. The water buttercups stands out on the bottom. From April to August the water is generally slightly hazy and the flow rate is consistent between 6 and 8 m³ / s. The banks are easy to access. The fish fauna is mainly composed of marble trout and the marble-brown trout hybrid, and secondarily of the brown trout and grayling.
